SBDC advisers earn 2011 achievements The Angelo State University Small Business Development Center recently distributed awards to its staff members for 2011. The 2011 SBDC Rural Business Adviser of the Year award went to Peggy Hodges Rosser for the South-West Texas SBDC network, which covers 79 counties. Rosser joined the ASU SBDC in the summer of 2007. She assists business clients and communities in the following seven counties: Concho, McCulloch, Mason, Kimble, Menard, Sutton, and Schleicher. Before the stands and row of judges, the female figure clad in gray held on tight as her sleek, brown horse chased a calf from one side of the arena to the next, kicking up clouds of dirt. Within seconds, horse and rider were racing alongside the cow, matching its stride, then exceeding it as spectators cheered.

It was only after the smoky haze had lifted from San Angelo bars that Robert Reyes noticed what a difference it made. Since then he has frequented pool halls and dance floors that, in the past, he found hard to stomach because of cigarette fumes.
